Casual cafés with entertainment in Paris
Does anyone have comments regarding these two establishments?
Café Leffe - 41 rue de la Bucherie
http://www.cafeleffe-notredame.com/english.htm
le Petit Pont - 1 rue du Petit Pont
http://www.panamcafe.com/
Supposedly, they have musical entertainment some evenings. Both are across the river from Notre Dame - I think they are practically next door to each other, you know, where there's a plant screen just after you go past Sq Viviani?
So - awful food? Terribly touristy/cheesy/rip-off? or Ok in spite of 'tourist' location..? Seen or heard the entertainment? Just getting various options for something different.
I looked at La Chope de la Mairie in the 18th (http://www.lachopedelamairie.com/) ... not sure I want to be way up there late in the evening...

I know I've had something to eat/drink at one or both of them, due to their location--I think le Petit Pont. Just a convenient place to sit and take a break when you are sightseeing.
I didn't have any meal, just a drink or ice cream. They look fine to me -- I think it will be touristy in that there are tons of tourists around there, so probably a large part of the audience, but the entertainment just sounds like typical cafe/bar-type entertainment -- some local musicians who play around in bars. I've noticed more of Parisian cafes doing that kind of thing, adding some live music here and there. It sounds pleasant to me, as long as there is no cover charge.

Yes, it'll be very touristy and Anglo-Saxon. For something more Parisian, head East, to Le Nouveau Casino rue Oberkampf, the newly renovated Flèche d'or Café at the intersection of rue de Bagnolet and rue des Pyrénées,le Zèbre on bd de Belleville, just to mention a few.

ha, well, we're not night-owls but thought we might go somewhere one evening for a very casual experience, and don't really want to be in unfamiliar territory late in the evening. I don't mind a 'touristy' place since I'm a tourist, if it is fun and not a total ripoff money-wise.
Let me ask about this one - does anyone know about Bistrot d'Eustache? Supposedly there is entertainment on Thurs-Sat, sometimes gypsy-style guitarists... This is located across from Forum des Halles which is not a great place to be in the evening.
We found a cafe/bar that has billiards on avenue du Maine, and we like the cinema v.o. found at various locations... will probably try for an evening concert in one of the churches...thinking about Le Caveau des Oubliettes or maybe Café Universel on rue St Jacques...
