Cannot wait to read the last installment..so glad you visited La Locandiera in Bernalda and hope you liked it as much as we did! (Saving the actual report for after dinner tonight!!) I long to return to that area!

Ekscrunchy- Thank you so much for your kind words. You know I am such a fan of your reports and all their foodie info too!
Oddly enough, I did not have La Locandiera in my notes, nor even Bernalda and did not know you'd been there. We stumbled on it quite literally by accident.

Kristina - looking at your link to Pzo. Gorgoni, I see that they specify 30% on account with balance in cash. Did you have to wire transfer money to make your reservation, or what? Do they take a cc to hold the res?

Holly- No, we didn't have to pay anything in advance. My mom emailed her and asked about it and she said, "fine, pay when you arrive."
If I have to wire money, it's not going to happen. OTOH, I will pay a deposit via credit card, or paypal.

Looks like it was about 6 weeks in advance and yes, the owner (Marta) speaks English. Keep in mind the place only has 3 rooms so it could fill up depending on the time of year. When are you planning on going?

Hello ekscrunchy, I am new to this forum, so i hope you receive my post. I am in the planning stages for my trip to Sicily/Puglia in 2016 I have read many of your comments about the Puglia region, what i am wanting to know is, what is the drive from Bari to Vieste like? Is it worth visiting for a couple of days, or is it too far out of the way? Would you recommend basing myself in about 3 different places for about 3 or 4 days each to see most of the sights? e.g Lecce, somewhere near Ostuni to see Locorontondo etc. and where else would you recommend? I will be coming from Australia, planning on 14 days in Sicily and about 12 days in Puglia. I will look forward to any or all of your suggestions.
Thankyou in advance, I really appreciate your input. Ruth
