Castles in Europe for 300 Euros?

I want to take my wife to Europe for our anniversary which is on the 12th of January. I want to take here to a really nice grand castle. I am willing to pay 300 Euros max. Any ideas?

You will find plenty of choices here:

www.chateauxhotels.com
www.relaischateaux.com
www.ila-chateau.com

300 Euro is more than enough, especially in January.

There is quite a big difference in my mind between the various countries which have accommodations in castles. Do you really not have a "short list" of preferred countries?

In any event, here are a few threads on which some good ideas have been provided in reponse to similar, albeit more focused questions:

"Need help finding a castle to spend the night at in Germany"

"Looking for Castles and Horses"

"Does anyone know of any good Castles to stay at in France or Germany?"

Best wishes,

For Italian castles, check out:

Lots of options to choose from.

Check out http://www.germancastles.com/ for castle hotels in Germany.

In May, we stayed at the Auf Schoenburg Castle Hotel in Oberwesel overlooking the Rhine River (http://www.hotel-schoenburg.com/). Lovely hotel with a gourmet restaurant. They have several special rooms and suites that would be suitable for your anniversary celebration. Their most expensive suite is around 200 Euro.

Oops, I guess I didn't pay close enough attention to the date of your trip. I don't think the Auf Schoenburg is open from January until March. However, you can send them an email if you are interested and I'm sure they can advise you.
