No, I have not been there, but it must be a good base with railways in six directions. Day trips by train or bus to Venice, Treviso, Padova, Vicenza, Bassano del Grappa, Feltre, Maróstica, Ásolo, classical villas, vineyards of Valdobbiádene. The Villa Barbaro at Masèr, "the finest country house in all of Italy".
Trevor,

I actually stopped there for an hour or two last summer on my way from Padua to Cortina d'Ampezzo!

It's got a very pretty small walled old town, with a famous church (which was of course closed for "lunch" until 4PM or something - argh!). We ate at the restaurant/pizzeria just outside the main gate to the old town (nice outdoor terrace and the greatest "melone & prosciutto crudo").

Drove on to visit the Villa Maser which was a disappointment IMO.

Castelfranco is a nice stop on the way to the Dolomites but hardly a destination I would want to spend days in.

Hope this helps,
Andre

Trevor, We spent 4 days in that part of veneto one time and enjoyed it. We did visit Castelfranco, but stayed in Bassano as our base camp. Much more to see and do there---cool town.
