Cashmere sweaters
 

We'll be in Paris in January and I understand that's sale time. Any suggestions as to where to get cashmere sweater sets in delicious colors?

Prices in Paris will be astronomical, even the sale prices. Highly recommend you go to Macy's "one-day sale" (being held nearly every day, every month). Sadly, the "cashmere" is excluded from those 20% off coupons. But, the colors are, indeed, "delicicious". I, myself, recently picked up several "sets" at rock bottom prices. Beautiful colors and fit. You can get a "set" at Macy's for far less than one piece in Paris, even when "on sale". Note also that sizes in Paris are teeny.

Having been in Paris and in London when they had the big sales, I found that when it came to cashmere sweaters,shawls,coats, whatever, it was still very expensive...LoveABargain has the right idea, you can get good prices here in th US.

Hi! There's an outlet store across the street from Samaritain (sp) department store. I think the name is Kim. I was ther a few years ago. It is like a place on the lower east side, but I bought a gorgeous sweater. Good luck!

Oh well, a note of ugliness crept into a light and congenial thread...let's just ignore the uglies...maybe they (kim) will go away~<BR>Check into the small boutiques in the Marais,they may have cashmere for less, sometimes you can find bargains there and always something that you won't find in a US store..Have a great shopping time~

I went to Paris twice in January. The prices of winter clothing was still very expensive. However, I was able to pick up some beautiful 100% cotton short sleeve dresses for a very low sale price at Galeries Lafayette. If you find the cashmere is expensive, you can always look for other ideas.

This may sound totally bizarre by why not check to see if there is a branch of the Edinburgh Woollen Mill in Paris? I wouldn't put it past them as they seem to have branches everywhere now.Their prices are good. Also consider M and S.. if they are still going.

Rather than look for a bargain, look for something unique - I guarantee you can buy cashmere in the U.S. for a lot less than in Paris, if all you're looking for is a sweater set in blush.<BR><BR>Try also Bon Marche in the 7eme, and the stores in the area around Boulevard St Michel/Boulevard St Germaine.

I'd agree with LoveABargain. You can get cashmere sweater sets now at Macy's and Lord & Taylors at nearly half price. I was supposed to be Christmas shopping but scooped up an armload for myself because they were so much cheaper than usual.

I wouldn't usually go to a foreign country to buy something that isn't native there, as cashmere isn't to France, especially one with high prices and taxes. Now Scotland would be another story. I think TSE has the best cashmere anything, especially if Hussein Chalayan designed it. I'm sure there is a shop somewhere in Paris. Now, not to be an evil bitch, but I think the Edinburgh Wool Market is horrible. There stuff is VERY Marks & Spencer-ish. ie boring, bland, someplace a spinster would shop. It is fine for your grandmother who has osteoporosis, but certainly not for a head-turner like Edna.

Tse sells some cashmere sweater sets from China. Better look to Italian or Scotland mades. (Yes, I know where the goats come from.)
