Scarlett, Oliver Platt was a hoot, but a tad skinny these days. Facial expressions exchanged between him and the mother were priceless.

Yes! I loved that whole scene when identities were revealed .. I loved him in the film Funny Bones!

I just saw it too, I also wondered why it got an R rating.
It was cute and silly and pretty to look at, even Oliver Platt in his fat suit looked good in those velvets and brocades. Heath Ledger was just right, and amazes me even more with his acting versatility. I was only disappointed that they didn't show him escaping from the Palace Prison as the real Casanova did (per the Secret Itinerary tour). Was the Italian Inquisition still going on as late as 1753? |
We saw it Sunday. It's a fun romp.
All the classic romantic comedy schtick--mistaken identity, romantic rogue turns into devoted lover, girl hates romantic rogue/but not really, pratfalls, twists, plot jumps that don't make a lot of sense, etc. But well acted with plenty of cleavage and nice scenery. J Irons was a hoot--loved the hairstyle! Definitely worth the $6 on a cold Sunday afternoon. |
My kind of fun flick! Heath is so incredibly gorgeous...and his voice...I normally don't react to voices, but his was tooooo sexy...esp when was talking about the "novice" Great scenery and I wish Venice looked as pristine as it did in the movie sans tourists.

Just saw it, very fun, great scenery. Gotta love Lena Olin and Oliver Platt!

I went yesterday for the scenery of Venice, which was beautiful...but I didn't care for the silliness of the story/dialogue - would have liked it better as a more 'literary' representation. The dialogue seemed too modernized and flip. I like 'period pieces' that feel more true to the time - I think the recent 'Monte Cristo' was more like that.
