Casa Howard in Rome info. needed

Has anyone stayed in one of the 5 new rooms at Casa Howard? The web site says opening in December 2002. Would you recommend this place? Thanks!

Hi Jen,
I am supposed to be staying in the Flower Room right now...unfortunately, my mother's serious illness is causing me to postpone my trip!

I have stayed in the Pink Room, one of the "original 5" featured on the Casa Howard web site. It was wonderful! I would trust Jennifer Howard Forneris' judgement (she owns Casa Howard) completely, which is why when I inquired on the availability of the Pink Room for this trip & it was not available, I booked myself into the Flower Room on the other property. I feel that Casa Howard maintains high standards for customer service, & wouldn't hesitate to stay in either location. (Not sure when I'll be going, but I'm hoping now that it's within the next month.)

Buon Viaggio,
BC

Book Chick (and anyone else!)--I was hoping to book a room at Casa Howard for our September honeymoon. We want to splurge on a room for the Amalfi Coast and save a little $ on lodging in Rome, where we know we'll be out and about all the time. Was the area fairly quiet? I know in Rome a quiet room is hard to come by, but I'm a light sleeper so that's one thing I'm worried about. The rooms look so cute on their website! Do you know anything about their new place, Via Sistina?

Book Chick--I meant to write this in my previous post: I am sorry to hear of your mother's illness and hope she's feeling better.

I am still around. Thanks for the good wishes. My mom was hospitalized the last 3 days of '02, out of the hospital a couple of weeks, in a nursing home for 3 days, and then went back to the hospital with a blood clot. While she was there, I insisted she stay to have a possible bowel obstruction investigated, and it turned out to be a good thing, as she had a 6 centimeter tumor in her colon. She was in the hospital for a couple of weeks & just returned to the nursing home, where she's doing well. I expect in a couple of months, she'll return home.

I am leaving for Rome on Monday night!

Grazie,
BC

Hi all, I had the unfortunate experience of being the first "guest" to stay in the flower room. If you don't mind waking daily with a massive headache due to lack of sleep from the busy road below and the strong paint fumes in the room..then maybe the fact that the toilet doesn't work properly; there's no satellite TV or Internet connection (as advertised); you can barely swing a cat in the room; and the 'out of order' Turkish Bath..all might deter you from staying here. Jennifer, the ever present owner is very unhelpful and when we asked her for a map of the area she said that 'all maps are rubbish!' and garbled some street names in Italian at us as my fiance busily tried to jot them down. Finally when we raised our concerns with her we were told thankfully she didn't have many guests like us and that we were obviously very inexperienced travellers. After this abuse we immediatly checked out and she had the audacity to bill us for that nights stay! Little did she know that my fiance is world-wide PR Director for the largest hotel chain in the world!! ...obviously very inexperienced in hotels! We will never stay there again and highly recommend that you don't either!
