Carte Orange - Using Old ID Part

Hello...

I have a Carte Orange from 2001, with a black & white photo. Can I re-use one that old, and just get a new ticket?

Or should I get a new ID part with the new ticket?

I'm 60...so I haven't really changed my appearance very much since 2001.

Thanks.

The photo ID card is valid indefinitely. All you need is a new ticket.

Yes, they have never cancelled the old cards. But they might "suggest" an update.

We've been using the same ID's since 1996.

The address on my old carte orange will not be the same (different hotel this time). Will that matter? Can I just cross out the old one and write the new one?

Thanks.

I don't remember Cartes Oranges as having an address on them...?!? Addresses don't matter. Old photo cards are still valid.

The "functional" parts of the CO are the picture and the number (which you should always write on your ticket, in case you enounter an RATP enforcer with an attitude). The whole mechanism is to ensure that only one person is using one ticket.

I have an old Carte Orange id card but for some reason it is without a picture, even though I used it several years ago. Can I just paste a picture on it, or is it laminated or something, so just a picture pasted on will look phony?

I don't think the RATP police care that much - as long as the picture doesn't look like you just glued it on with rubber cement after peeling off your brother-in-law's. Your signature is in ink, isn't it?

I see now I never signed the old one. It seems apparent that your opinion of the police attitude is accurate. I'll just stick a picture on it. Not my brother-in-law's, however. I am female and that might be going a bit too far.

Hello, again:

Since we already have our cartes oranges with photos, am I correct in just asking for two COUPONS?

Bonjour - s.v.p. - je voudrais deux coupons pour les cartes oranges, zones une a deux.

My French is not so good -- please correct for me...for example, how do I add "for this week" or something like that?

Thanks.

"un coupon hebdomadaire, deux zones, s'il vous plaît"

Lately I've been refused the blank ID cards for Carte Orange for visiting clients; the agents claim that the ID cards are no longer necessary—all you need is the ticket. I find that a bit difficult to believe, but perhaps it's part of the RATP's apparent attempt to idle all human agents and force everyone to buy everything from a machine.

Follow up to my question:

Had a wonderful time -- the old carte orange worked fine.

My only mistake was forgetting to buy an extra ticket for the CDG-Paris ride (my coupon was 2 zones).

No problem, however, my severley-limited French sufficed to explain my error at the exit station (I got to use the verb oublier which I had practiced in the perfect tense knowing that I would forget SOMETHING this trip) and I just paid there.
