Carte Orange - Photo - Copy of Passport Photo ok?
OK, I'm lazy. I don't want to get the camera out and have someone take a picture of me that will probably look worse than my passport photo. How about I scan in my passport photo, print it on photo paper (does it have to be photo paper or will plain paper do?) and cut it out? The only problem I can see is that my passport has USA stamped on the top of the photo and perhaps this will not be acceptable.

Any recognizable photo that fits over the little self-adhesive square on the Carte Orange ID card is fine. The Carte Orange is not an "official" form of identification, but just a way for transit police to make sure that the person using a particular Carte Orange ticket is indeed the person for whom it was purchased.
It's probably cheaper to get your photo taken in one of the little automated photo booths scattered throughout the Métro than it is to print it yourself, though. The cost of photo paper and ink for ink-jet printing is ridiculously high. |
Never tried that, but the photo booths in many of the metro/RER stations cost about 4 euro. You would obviously cut off the USA thing above your head on the photo, as well as the words above that. It is too big with all that on it, anyway. The place on the card is actually smaller than a passport photo, a photo only 1.25 to 1.50 inches square is sufficient.

Plain paper will do. As Anthony says, it just needs to look like you.

Just find a photo of youself and cut out the face (about 2" square). I did this last November. The Metro agent cut it to the proper size and affixed to the ID card. Yes, maybe I was lucky to get someone pleasant and willing to do that but no special photo is needed.

If you make a copy of your passport, which is a good idea, make another, reduced a little bit, and cut out the picture.

Thanks for the ideas. Gomiki, I like your's the best. I'm sure I've got a recent photo around here somewhere I can cut up. Knowing the deminsions helps, too. Thanks all.
