carte orange or carnet 10

Our family of 4 will be in Paris this Sunday thru Friday. Would it be wiser to get a carte orange rather than a carnet of 10 pack? Does anyone know the prices of both? We have 2 adults, an 18 & 15 yr. old if that makes any difference. thanks

We used the carnet 10's during our trip. The main reason is that the carte orange is only sold on certain days and during certain hours...don't remember exactly but we missed it. Prices were about the same. You can use Visa/Mastercard to buy the 10packs in any machine at any metro station so its very convenient.

flygirl-

There have been many many posts asking about Carte Orange and the carnet in the past. If you type Carte Orange in the search box above, you'll find your answers.

To answer a few here:
1. Carte Orange is good from Mon-Mon, €14,50 for zones 1-2
2. Carnet is €10 for 10 tickets
3. I don't think your children will get any discount.
4. Which one you should buy depends on how much you plan on using public transport vs walking.

It really depends on how much you plan to use the Metro. The carnet is more practical in one sense in that all four of you can use the tickets from the same pack. The carte orange is only economically practical if you expect to do a lot of Metro riding over the six days.
What does your itinerary look like.

You can't buy the Carte Orange for that time anyway. Buy carnets (bundles of 10) tickets and share among you.

Is there something else to buy if you only need tickets for one day?

We are coming in on a Sunday, and leaving the next Sunday, and will probably want to each take about 2 or 3 metro rides and 2 or 3 bus rides on the first Sunday. Maybe the carnet would be a good idea for the two of us for the first day, followed by the Carte Orange for the remaining days.

I believe you can buy the Mobilis pass for 1 day. €5,20 for zones 1-2.
If you going to ride >5 rides on your 1st day, it will be cheaper.
