Carry-on restrictions

Hi all

Have the carry-on restrictions coming from the UK been somewhat lifted or are they still "one personal item, and a small one at that"?

Thanks

depends on what airport you are going through. The majority of the larger airport now have the security facilities to cope with 2 bags per person some of the smaller ones do not.
You may also be limited by what your carrier allows so it is worth checking with them also.
do not presume that what the airport allows is the same as what the carrier allows.

Gatwick is still 1 item, I believe Heathrow is 2

Many thanks. This would be LHR, and I usually travel with an 18 inch carryon (fits under the seat) and a "slingbag" for my camera gear (purse is in suitcase). The slingbag looks like a small backpack. United never hassles me so I'm not worried there - just the UK restrictions that used to be in effect.

We connected through Heathrow last month on a BA flight, and we were allowed one carry-on (but smallish; check your airline's web site for dimensions) plus one personal item. Some people had oversized pieces, and there wasn't a problem--possibly because our flight wasn't too full.
