On my original confirmation, the email states that we have 1 chambre sur rue. In the subsequent reconfirmation, it indicates 1 chambre "sur la façade." On the surface, it seems like this should be the same (after all, doesn't the façade face the street?), but I don't want to be caught by surprise.

Anyone in the know have an opinion or suggestion? If these aren't the same, which is preferable? I would rather contact them in advance to clarify.

Yes, do email the hotel and ask in English if it's more confusing to youin French. From what I understand streetside rooms are the largest rooms. Nothing mentioned 'cour' or courtyard so I think you have a streetside room for sure. But it's best to check directly with your hotel.

I'm actually fairly proficient in French (I have studied in Paris), so that wasn't the issue. It was just the vague wording that might or might not have referred to the same room.

I think I'll follow your advice and contact the hotel just to make sure - although it does sound like it might just be a case of what Ginny described.

LMWW, I'll be waiting to hear from you with you impressions on on your return bcause I'll be staying there in February.

I agree it just sounds like the same thing, perhaps written by two different employees, or even the same person just using different words for the same thing. That isn't the usual French phrasing that I use and which is usually cited to me for room placement, though, which would say a chambre "qui donne sur la rue" or something like that. Maybe they just dropped the donne part -- but the facade is on the rue. I've seen that hotel, and it's not that big, and I don't believe there is any rue on the back of it.

The main difference of that hotel is rooms overlooking the street versus a courtyard, as I understand it. Their official price list refers to rooms on the "facade" so that is probably their usual way of describing it.
