Carnevale in Frascati
I've been reading that there is Carnevale in Frascati in February. Although I've done a long google search, I haven't been able to find out the specific date for this year. Anybody have an idea where I can find this information?

Same dates for every Carnevale in Italy. Feb. 19-24 this year.

Hi SP,
If you google "carnevale Frascati" you will find "I festeggiamenti hanno inizio il giovedì grasso e terminano il martedì, il Carnevale di Frascati con la festa “Re Pupone e Pulcinelli” con carri allegorici e sfilate per le vie è uno dei più noti in Italia" (The festivities begin on Thursday and ends on fat Tuesday, the Carnival of Frascati with the feast "Re Pupone and Pulcinelli" with floats paraded through the streets is one of the most famous in Italy.) ((I) |
Though I haven't been to Frascati for Carnevale, it is one of my favorite hilltop towns. If you go you will certainly enjoy it.

I hope they don't throw oranges like they do in Ivrea. Ouch!
|
Thanks. The only thing is, one of the sites says that some towns celebrate it the weekend before. I did find a phone number for information that I can call when I get to Rome. Actually, I hope it is the weekend before the 24th, because I come home on the 22nd.

OK, so I just realized that ira's clip was specifically about Frascati. Thanks! Looks as though it will start on Thursday, which would be the 19th. I'm definitely going!

Ira's translation above is incorrect.
With my fumbling Italian, I read to mean that the festival begins on Fat Thursday and ends on Tuesday, which would correspond to the dates posted by Jean. |
ek, I take it that still means Feb 19-24. Looks like the parade will be the 24th, but there will be activities starting the 19th, so I should be able to catch something. Thanks.
