Carmignano and Florence?

I'm looking into apartment/villa rentals in Carmignano, which seem to be cheaper than staying right in Florence.

How feasible is it to take public transportation from Carmignano to Florence? By bus? By train? And is the bus station in Florence close enough to the historical center to walk around, and is there a regular bus schedule?

Is Carmignano easy enough to take day trips from, if we end up renting a car?

Thanks in advance! Any thoughts on Carmignano are appreciated.

The bus station is close to the historical center, just opposite the main train station. A 5- to 10-minute walk will put you right in the center of Florence.

Personally, if I wanted to visit Florence for more than two daytrips, I would stay in Florence rather than waste the time commuting. Florence has accomodations in every price range. What price were you hoping to pay? Some posters here may have some reasonable choices for you.
