car size for 4
What size car for 4 adults for a week?
Ford Mondeo ok? Thanks |
Where will you be travelling?

I think the biggest determining factor is how much luggage you have. Remember that most cars in Europe are a lot smaller than what we are used to here. Though they will technically hold 4 people, there is not a lot of extra room, so luggage will have to go in the trunk (which is often of the old hatchback variety)

July 2001
Drove 4 adults for 10 days all over Ireland in a Volvo S60 which worked out really well. Back seats were kinda of smallish (compared to full size Volvos) but my 6 foot tall father says he was very comfy - he must have been since he slept a good deal of the way! Wendy |
Not much luggage. Will try to see as much of Ireland as possible in 8 days in late May/early June.

We used the Ford Mondeo for a three week trip for 4.Im 6 foot and found it comfortable to drive and the back seat was adequate.

How about a station wagon? The smaller ones are easy to maneuver around narrow roads, and the back is often larger than most car trunks. That's the way we always do it.

Agree with Tries. A mid-sized estate car (shooting break?) such as an Astra Estate would give you plenty of boot space and still be small enough to be maneouvrable (sp?) in narrow streets.

we just had 2 ford mondeo's on a recent german/czech trip....great car..plenty of room upfront and the trunk held our cases quite well (we were careful on what we brought--limited)..the first car had GPS and we loved it....if yours comes with it make sure the car company sets it to english for you before you begin...we used www.gemut.com and they were great...good discounts
