Car service in London
Can anyone please recommend the best method (value and ease) for getting from Heathrow to London Marriott County Hall? We will have luggage with us, and it will be early in the AM when we arrive. I have heard that there are car services (like taxis, but res. required) which are a good way to go, but have never used them. Any advice?

Ray's web site is www.london-transfers.com.
Swiss Cottage doesn't have a web site, but a search of these boards will probably turn up their phone number.

I've recommended Ray Skinner about a million times on this forum, he has a website and you can contact him via e-mail or by phone. Patrick, another regular on this forum, always recommends Swiss Cottage Cars but they do not have a website. I am sure if you do a search you will find a huge number of posts on this subject as it constantly comes up.

A number for Swiss Cottage Cars: from the US 011 44 207 431 2700
Although they don't have a website, I feel the cheap phone call is worth it as they are something like $20 less expensive. I've used them about a dozen times now -- always totally dependable.

It has been 25 pounds for a long time, but recently a friend said they charged her 27 pounds. I generally give the driver a total of 30 pounds, a pretty good tip, but the drivers are always so nice, and also insist on carrying all the luggage to the car and unloading for me at my flat. They will confirm the price when you call and give them the time, flight number, and address of where you are going. There is also never an extra charge for waiting. They check with the airlines and if the flight is delayed there is no extra charge. I also got hung up in baggage claim once and still there was no extra charge.
