Car Service from Naples Airport to Positano

Could someone please recommend a responsible car service from the Naples Airport to our hotel in Positano and let me know what the cost would be? Our hotel could do this for about 110E, but I was hoping for something a little less expensive.

thanks!

That is about the going rate; perhaps you can get it a bit cheaper with a driver that you contact.

See the official rates in this thread.

There are endless posts here on private drivers in this area.

The rates are generally set to compete with the official taxi price, which has been €120 for some time now.

The more convenient your day and time of arrival are, the more likely the car would be to get a passenger in the other direction as well - and the better the deal you may get.

However you may consider an extra €10 or so worth paying, to have the hotel involved.... just in case, say, the car fails to appear?

One less costly alternative might be to take the Curreri company's shuttle bus to Sorrento, and then a taxi from there?

Thanks ekscrunchy and Peter. It definitely looks like 100E-110 E is the going rate, even if it's expensive. But I think you're right Peter, that it makes sense to have the hotel involved just in case.

Our flight arrives at 10:30 p.m., meaning we get out of the airport not before 11 -11:15 if we're lucky and assuming flight is on time. That is why I was thinking of going with a car service as opposed to busisng/training it at far less the cost - just for the convenience considering the relatively late hour.

Do you have experience with the shuttle bus? Is there a shuttle bus that goes straight to Positano (especially at that late hour?)

thanks!

The last of thoses buses currently leaves at 20:45, and I'm pretty sure they don't run a lot later - even at the height of the season!

And I doubt you'd be able to get into the city in time for the last Sorrento-bound Circumvesuviana train at - I think - about 22:45...

I checked a very similar journey only a couple of days ago, and was given a price the same as the taxi fare - so you're actually doing quite well at €110!

We are booked with tourofitaly.com car service from Naples to Positano on June 5th. My daughter and I are on our first trip to Italy and since we'll probably have a bit of jet lag, I didn't want to bother finding a train, a bus and or a boat. They quoted me €85 Euro. The man who runs it used to live in the US (NYC) and I read about him here on the fodors forum.

That does seem to be the current price for daytime, when they can hope to fill the vehicle on both legs - whereas by late evening that's less likely, and passengers haven't any cheap (cheaper?) alternatives, other than spending their first night in somewhere inexpensive Naples... which isn't really quite the same as waking up in Positano?
