Car Rentals in Great Britian
 

Will be in England early November. Please help me with car rentals. I want to pick up in Bath, drop off in Birmingham about four days later. Any ideas on best companies to rent from based on price and ease of pick up and drop off. Arriving in Bath by train, leaving Birmingham by train.

The big names in car rental (like Avis, Hertz, EasyCar) seem only to be in larger cities and towns.

You could try Practical Car & Van Rental (according to their website they are the 4th largest rental company in the UK) who appear to be all over the place in the UK, therefore possibly good for picking up and dropping off in smaller towns, like Bath. They are also very reasonable with regard to charges.

Oops, I just had a quick look at the website and they don't seem to have premises in Bath. Try google.co.uk and enter 'car hire Bath' and several other options come up...

Start with autoeurope.com. They are a large US-based rental brokerage firm that can book you on all the major car rental companies in Europe. Lots of us (myself included) have used them.

When I needed something similar last year, the best deal by far was with Hertz. Go over their rate plans and promotions carefully.
