While looking for rental car prices through British websites, I found a term I do not understand: Price includes refundable excess.
* Excess Refund Cover from Auto Europe Should the local supplier charge you for the excess amount on the vehicle you may reclaim this charge providing you complete a police accident form & an accident report form with the supplier when returning the car copies of which should then be sent to Auto Europe .

I don't have a clue. Anybody out there know what it means?

The rental price without the excess clause is less than it is with. Not much, but enough to raise my curiosity.

A similar clause is not included if I go through the US website for the same outfit.

The price for the sane car quoted in £ is also a bit cheaper than the US $$ rate, figuring at the current wholesale bank rate of exchange converting £ to US$$.

MAKE that the same car. It is the driver's sanity which might be called into question. I don't think cars have those kinds of problems.

As a philosophical meandering, what would happen if there was an insane driver at the wheel of an insane car??

I saw a real nut last year in London.
We were waiting for a bus on Kensington Church Street. Some bozo driving a Ferrari slammed his car up on the curb and went inside a tobacco shop for a fix. He came out, jumped in his car, and acclerated hard for about 100 yards, squaling the tires as he went.

I wonder how fast he got?
My guess is around 60 mph on a tight city street.

"excess" is the deductible.

AutoEurope is saying their rates include the excess, and if the local agency charges you for excess damage -- here is how you get your refund from AutoEurope.

OK. Simple answer.
Now, why don't US inquiries receive the same type of offer?

Is that the US quote includes all excess so it isn't an issue, and maybe bookings from other countries don't auromatically include excess.

You can get zero deductible from both the US and UK versions of AutoEurope.

As you have discovered, somtimes the UK site is cheaper than the US site.
