car rental paid in u.s
Hope someone out there can help on this one.The first time I went to Ire. I rented a car through a rental agency and was able to get the rate in u.s dollars.I don't mean a currency conversion....I was able to pay up front and later charged in u.s $.Alas I can't remember the rental company. My neighbor has done the same...but as of now..we are drawing blanks.I know there is a rental site in California that does this.Any one know of it?Thanks.

Do you have your credit card statement from the time you paid, or can you get a copy?

The one most Fodorites use is AutoEurope . . . Stateside toll free number, and billing in US $
|
no...i'm sorry I don't...it was a few years ago...
|
If you don't have that info, then I agree w/janis, try AutoEurope. We used Autoeurope last year and we were very happy. See www.autoeurope.com
|
I've used autoeurope...I my be mistaken but I think I may have been billed in euros. One more question...how do we add extra drivers who are not related....do they put the extra driver on our card or theirs?Thank you all again

I've used AutoEurope 3-4 times a year for the last 20 years and was never billed in anything but US$. Why would they want to bill otherwise?

I rented through Dan Dooley a couple years ago. They charged in US$, and had a New Jersey (I think) phone # as well.
|
My last trip I called Dan Dooley's 800 number here in the States in order to get a 10% discount by mentioning Pat Preston. My credit card was charged in dollars. They are quite nice.
