Car rental or cab near Chartres

Jump to last reply

In a few weeks my family will be staying in Paris. One of the days we are there we are looking to take a day trip to Chartres, probably on the Monday. It looks like it's relatively straightforward for the 6 of us to take a train from Paris to Chartres. However, while outside of Paris, we're also looking to make a side trip to Gallardon, where our ancestor's lived before colonising the new world.

The question is, how to get from Chartres to Gallardon? Our Paris landlord suggested that we take the train to Chartres or Epernon and take a cab, but I'm not really sure how that would work for spending an hour or two in a small town, then getting back to the train station. Others have suggested we rent a car, but no one in my family can drive a manual.
