Car Rental: La Spezia or Pisa to Tuscany
For the middle part of our trip, we will be visiting Cinque Terre for two nights, then pick up a car for the next part of our trip, 1 night in San Gimignano and 4 nights near Pienza.
Would it be better to pick up a rental car in La Spezia or Pisa? Are there rental car agencies close to the train station at either of these cities?
Cheers!
Brent

Brent - I think there might be a cost difference here (- if that's a factor) - as most of the Pisa agencies are based at the airport. (There is normally a supplement for an airport rental ...)
Otherwise ... La Spezia is closest - but Pisa is en route anyway. Your call.
I can't find rental agencies at either station. The addresses I have are:
LA SPEZIA
Hertz:
Viale S. Bartolomeo 393
Europcar:
Viale S. Bartolomeo 515
Avis:
Via F Rosselli 74
PISA
Hertz:
Pisa airport
Avis:
Pisa airport
Europcar:
Via S. Michele degli Scalzi 16
Hope this helps ...

Brent,
We're coming from the other directions. We are picking up a car in Florence and dropping it off in LaSpezia. AutoEurope was very helpful. I had some trouble on their Web site regarding the LaSpezia dropoff. But when I called their toll free number, they were able to set me up. They were also able to provide more information on exactly where the stations are located.
Where did you decide to stay in Pienza? We are going to stay in that area for three nights, but haven't quite picked out the spot.

In Pienza, we are staying at Le Traverse (http://www.letraverse.it/). It's a bit of a splurge, but hopefully worth it! Thanks for the tip on renting a car in La Spezia. I will give AutoEurope a call. Cheers!
