Car rental Ireland

I am off to Ireland in September. I have done some research on the different companies. Should I book now, or closer to my departure date? Will the price drop? I am planning to rent a manual (I think) Keep flipping on that one. Leaning towards Argus Rentals or Ireland Car rental. Any thoughts on this appreciated!

Danacat,

Research all the companies before renting.

We found a Volkswagen Golf for $300 per week on one site and the same car for $120 per week on another site.

Also, it is cheaper to book online than to call the companies.

Good luck!

Thanks for the reply. I will book via internet and I having been researching. The 2 companies I have listed seem to be the cheapest. I was wondering if it makes sense to book it now, or do the prices tend to come down? I have decided to go automatic, so I realize that the selection may be a problem if I wait to long.

September is still a pretty busy tourist time in Ireland. Since you want an automatic, I would book it now.

If the price comes down before you leave, you can always cancel the reservation ( or threaten to) and reserve the lower price car.
