Car Rental in Santorini

Car Rental in Santorini
I would like to rent a car for a day in Santorini. Whats the best to go about doing that. Should I look at the big agencies like hertz or autoeurope or some local agents. Any recommendations on agencies will be much appreciated. Should i pre-book or is it easy to get a good rate on arrival. We will be there in mid-Oct and plan to pick up the car on arriving at the ferry port.

No, just wait until you're there. Prices are best in October from the local agencies. In Oia check Drossos and Vazeos, both will accomodate your arrival. There's also Spiridakos Rent-A-Car at the port. If you're from the U.S. or Canada be sure to go to your local AAA office to pick up an International Driving Permit, no test or membership required.

Thats a great tip. Thanks BLL. Do you know if either of the agencies will allow to rent at Oia but return at the ferry port? Else it might be better to rent at the port on the first day itself.

We rented thru local firm Votsalo by phone - found them on website www.santorini-car-rental.com, booked day before arrival and that was July - didn't really want to take time looking for car rental whilst there. Car was new, pickup and dropoff took place as booked and very thorough with paperwork.
