Car rental in Provence

I need recommendations for a car rental in provence. Best case: pick up in aix and drop off in marseilles. However, pick up and drop off in Marseilles will work as second choice.

Try Autoeurope and difinitely rent prior to leaving the US.

While I agree that autoeurope.com may be the only name you need, I would recommend comparison shopping.

www.its-cars-hotels.com
www.kemwel.com

and

www.travelocity.com

You should not have to pay a drop charge from Aix en Pce to Marseille, no matter who you choose.

Best wishes,

Rex

Be advised, that car rental is cheaper, if done beforehand from the states.

i rented from europebycar.com and had no problems. they are based out of new york. i did a lot of comparison shopping before my trip and renting from an agency in france was at least double the cost!

Yes, it is less expensive if you rent from here.Like tina, we always use Eurocar. Be sure to rent a small car if you want to travel through villages and scenic back roads and to find parking easier. Hand shift is less expensive.

Europcar and Europe by Car are two diffent companies.
I too, normally prefer Autoeurope for short term rentals.

You didn't mention how long you need the car. If over 17 days, look at Auto France for super rates that include a brand new Peugeot (and you know exactly what you're getting before you get there) which includes full insurance, no deductible.

Request a car with a diesel engine, diesel fuel (gazole) is much cheaper than gas, 95 sans plomb, and you will get marginally better mileage with the diesel. We rented a Renault Clio diesel a month ago, in Provence through AutoEurope, car from EuropCar and averaged 700k between top-ups.

I recently returned from Provence and had rented a car through Nova based in Ireland. I did all of the comparison shopping and found that they were the cheapest. They provided theft and collision as part of their pricing. Autoeurope couldn't beat their price (I tried), and they use Europcar. I picked up the car in Avignon and encountered no problems. The price for the week was about 175 euros. Have fun!
