Car Rental in Frankfurt

We will be flying into Frankfurt on June 4 and need a 'compact' rental car. There are dozens of rental websites that supply cars in Frankfurt but in the past we were stung with a 17% airport administration tax when we exited. Some of the quotes we get online claim all taxes and airport surcharges are included in the quote but we are leary that the 17% sting could happen again, despite that promise. Tiger Car Rental seems to have the best rates online, and claim that taxes are included. Has anyone had experience with this Ireland based company, and were you hit with the 17% tax on top of your bill? Nova Car Hire make the same claim but their rates are slightly higher. Any experiences with them in this regard as well?? Thanks for any feedback. Footlooseone

I will bring this to the top since you haven't received an answer.

Try to check www.gemut.com They specialize in German rentals with very good rates, I understand.

Better yet, you will talk to a real person familiar with car rentals at German airports.
At least they can tell you exactly what will be charged.
I noticed Tiger has a E750-E1100 excess charge for liability unless you buy the Super CDW.

Examine those offers which allow a pickup at a non-airport location to avoid the airport fee. You can return the car to the airport without incurring the fee. Just be sure the cost of the taxi to the location is less than the airport fee.

We've used Nova a couple of times and everything went just fine. We are using Gemut this time because they came up with a bit better price and a free upgrade. We've also used Autoeurope and they were fine, too.

Thank you sher, tomboy, and rufus, for your comments. Much appreciated. I know this is not brain science but one wants to make sure you fully understand what you're actually getting for your dollar these days... especially when you're doing it on line. There has to be an element of trust. Feedback from others who have had similar good experiences is very helpful. Cheers, Footlooseone
