car rental in Florence

Heading to Florence in two weeks woot woot!!! Hoping someone please has some info about car rental in Florence. I'd like to find a car rental agency close to the SMN Train station as we will be arriving and departing via train. Planning on taking a day trip from Florence to Siena, through Chianti etc. Also does anyone have any tips on must see places along the drive.
Thank you so much in advance!

Most car rental agencies, plus the brokers like Kemwel and AutoEurope, will have offices at or near the train station. I always use AutoEurope. Be aware that a single-day rental will likely cost you as much as a 3-day rental will, and that you should definitely arrange the rental here in the USA, not in Italy.

ok thanks I am definately going to arrange the rental from the US. Bummer that is will cost that much although I suppose it's less than a tour as we have no ther way of getting around Siena etc. Thank you

we rented from hertz - its across the street from the train station. be sure to get a neverlost or use the navigation system in your cellphone/PDA as the routing out of florence was a bear for us.

Hi rg,

I think that it would be easier if you were to take the SITA bus from Florence (near SMN) to downtown Siena. about 1:30 hr

You could also visit San Gimignano.

I just booked a Florence car rental today and found that Kemwel was ~$80 less for a 2 week rental than Auto Europe. They are the same company, so I went with Kemwel.
