Car rental in Florence

We will be in Florence in mid-November for 5 day and plan to rent a car to explore Tuscany. However, there is concern over parking the rental car since I understand that driving/parking in Florence is not easy. I would appreciate any suggestions/recommendations.

Hi kb1962, you should be able to make arrangements with the hotel that you will be staying at in Florence regarding parking your rental car. Have a wonderful trip!

Personally, I would plan to stay IN Florence two nights withOUT the car, and pursue a three day rental, with plans to stay out IN Tuscany away from Florence for the other three.

Best wishes,

Rex

Having done it both ways, I absolutely agree with Rex. Other than the proverbial mammary glands on the male cattle, there is nothing so useless as a car in Florence. Far better to break the trip up into Florence and then touring Tuscany with a view to day-tripping from San G or Sienna or (my own preference) any one of the smaller lesser known towns that offer villas and pensions with free parking and easy access to the highways and backroads. Touring Tuscany from Florence is akin to visiting Rye, Long Island and Westchester from Manhattan.

Thanks for the endorsement, LJ

Thanks for all the advice. I did plan to stay in Tuscany for a couple of nights so we will probably just wait to pick up the car......
