Adrienne....I am going to rent from AutoEurope for my six weeks in Italy starting 9/4....after this horrid fire season ends (HA HA). You mentioned getting a brand new Alfa Romeo (which is what I wish to rent...an AR 156 to be exact). They keep saying they cannot assure me of that model...even on a full pre-pay. I am wondering: any tips on making sure I get that make and model? How did you do yours? A big part of my trips to Italy is the wonderful driving!!! As for previous auto rentals...we've had no probs..but we insure to the hilt! What's peace of mind truly worth? Heh heh Thanks DC3JUMPER

I hope I'm not being repetitive about my unfortunate experience with Thrifty (Italy by Car), but when I tried to turn down the insurance the rental counter attempted to put a 2000 euro block on my bank card. Yes, that is not a typo 2000 euros. That is why I decided to pay the $90 for the insurance. GOod thing to. We broke one of the hubcaps on one of those narrow country roads in Chianti. I can just imagine how much that would have cost me.
