car rental from Heraklion in June
 

My husband and I would like to rent a car from the Heraklion port in June. We would keep the car for 5 days and drop it off at the airport in Chania. A small car with a standard transmission is fine for us.

I can reserve a car with Economycarrental.com for about $44 a day, picking the car up at the Heraklion port and dropping off at Chania airport.

Should I go ahead and reserve this car or wait until we are there for a better deal?

We've generaly found Economy Car Rentals to be the best deal and with no hidden extras. You may find some of the companies will not do a one-way rental, so my instinct would be to book this now.

Most car rental agencies in Crete will do delivery/drop-off at 2 different points at no extra fee -- it is one of the few places in Greece where you can get that.

$44 per day in June for a 5 day rental without Automatic sounds pricey to me... we have rented twice in late May from Autoway; they meet or beat other agencies and are very reliable and offer full coverage CDW/no waiver. Economy is good too, but I suggest you shop around price-wise.

We rented from Athens Car Crete. They were the least expensive car we could find but thats because it was probably two or three years old. Absolutely no problem with the rental. We did pick it up at the Herklion airport though.
