David--our www.rentacar-worldwide.com ended up being from Alamo--an Opel station wagon. We encountered no problems at all with the car or the rental. At the price we got, I was half expecting some last minute additional charges, but there was nothing. Price included insurance with a deductable.

Chatmandu, are you renting with AutoEurope or AutoFrance? Being assured a new Peugeot sounds like AutoFrance as that is all they do -- new Peugeot lease plans to people from outside Europe. I've never known AutoEurope to guarantee that the car would be brand new, or generally even to guarantee what kind of car it would be.
If you aren't renting from AutoFrance, have you checked it out? -- I've found a month rate from them to be far better that AutoEurope's.

Hi Sara, I paid in advance to AutoEurope, because I wanted to take advantage of the free upgrade, if paid by March 31. I rented the economy model and will get the next level car. I hope this will work out as palnned. Judy

Patrick,
I'm a little confused, are you talking about a rental or lease from Auto Europe? They do both (now part of Kemwel) If leasing from Auto Europe, then they would indeed offer a new car of your choice as would an Auto France lease.
If a rental, Auto Europe could not guarantee a brand new car.

Ah, that clears it up. I was not aware that AutoEurope even did the "tax free" lease plans like AutoFrance. I was assuming that Chatmandu was talking about a regular rental program from AutoEurope.
