Car rental: Auto Europe vs Avis

We wish to rent a car in Venice, with a drop-off in Milan. Going thru Auto Europe reserves our car with Avis. While it is a bit less expensive to reserve directly thru Avis, is it more advantageous to use Auto Europe (more locations, visibility, etc)? We will be traveling thru the Dolomites, so we would like to be prudent. Thank you !

Yes, it's better to book through AutoEurope, and if you show them the quote you got directly from Avis, they are likely to match or beat it.

I agree---cannot beat their customer service, but I always check Kemwel too.

If your direct price from Avis is less than with Auto Europe, I'd stick with the Avis quote, but you should check to see what the final price is since AE is a discount broker and has always been able to beat the Avis or Hertz quotes.

The only difference we've found is booking directly with Avis or AE is that with AE you don't always get the car you want (depending on location), but if booking directly with Avis, you can demand the car you want or get something better.

Kemwel and AE are sister companies, working out of the same office in Portland, Maine. The difference is that each has a separate agreement with the rental companies, so the prices can be different for the same car at the same location.

Hi L,

AE or Kemwel will beat the Avis price for you.

The advantage with AE/Kemwel is that they speak English and will use their influence as a large customer to get the people at your European rental agency to provide customer service when needed.
