Car for Hire in Edinburgh?

HI Everyone, We need help! Does anyone know of a reliable car/limo service we can hire from Edinburgh Airport? We have a lot of luggage, probably 3 large suitcases plus our own travel luggage...our daughter is moving there for a year! We have been to Edinburgh many times, always arriving by train, with little luggage so we have no need idea if it is possible to hire a large car or van to pick us up at the airport. Any help you can give us will be greatly appreciated.

How large do you need. There are cabs on the taxi rank at EDI that are the size of minivans, like 6 or 7 passenger.

Just take a taxi off the rank, the savings pre-booking a car service are minimal

BTW there are shops in Edinburgh so your DD may not need 3 large suitcases - and some of the thins she wants to bring may not work (or worse still blow up) or not fit (eg bedding)

Try telling your daughter that!

When our daughter had her [first] year in Edinburgh, she carried along her fencing equipment and a cast iron frying pan.

Thank you Everyone! I will take your advice. We will get a taxi at the airport, no pre booking necessary. No fencing equipment or cast iron frying pans...I love your daughter's priority list. In my DD's luggage I feel there will be a lot of clothes and shoes! But you never know what else she has planned. The only thing I know for sure is, I will really miss her for the year she is away. The good news is I get to visit her once or twice.

All of you are the best. Thanks for the great advice. Ptm

you might remind her that taking a LOT of clothes may be a problem.. Where will she store them while living in Edinburgh? Student or small flat accommodations usually has little closet space. Many have no closets at all and only small cupboards. Maybe find out what sort of rooms she'll have and then pare down what she takes.

I would also suggest she leave some things at home and do some shopping when she gets there. Edinburgh is a major city not the outback and, although, college/university students basically dress pretty much the same, there are often some differences. What she thinks is fashionable at home may not be quite the same in Edinburgh.

As janisj said, finding a place for everything may be a problem.
