Capripants in France?
Are they as popular there, as they are here in California?
Need to know, as I'm packing and leaving for France in a couple of weeks. We are going to Paris and the Alsace Lorraine area. Thank you, Parfym |
I would really like to know, please.
Thanks, Parym |
Well, be a trend setter.
I would definitely take mine and I'm from CA. |
Thank you SeaUrchin.

Very Popular :)

Well - since they're named after the Isle of Capri - in Italy - and they started wearing them there in the 1950's I think you can get away with them in europe - assuming the weather cooperates.
And this time, they were trendy there before they were here (a friend of mine came back from France about 5 years ago - and said Capri pants were all the rage). |
If you're comfortable wear them! I never try to "blend in" - just be yourself. I'll be packing all of mine next month!

I always pack my favorite outfits. It doesn't matter (in my opinion) what fashion is popular at my destination. As long as I look my best and am dressed appropriate to the weather.

Parfym,
I don't know what they're wearing in Alsace, but here in Paris I see more cropped pants than long. Wear them - you'll fit right in. And have a wonderful time. |
Ithank you all
Cigalecanta and Toupary, I appreciate the straigt answers and the good wish. Parfym |
I always wear them in warm weather in the states or Europe. You will not feel the pressure to be fashionable in Alsace that you might in Paris. Although I have only been to Paris when it was to cool for more casual attire, so it may be no different.

It is funny, how... when one asks a simple question such as if capri-pants are worn this season in France, one gets all kinds of counselling pertaining to how one should "feel" visa-vis appearance and "blending-in". I have yet to notice that the Parisians dress particularly fashionable, nor for that matter any other Europeans. I Just wanted to get a "yes" or "no" answer to my question. You retired teachers, please remember you are not in a classroom here. Thanks.

You are just lucky that some of us take the time to answer your query. So don't go around insulting people. You can be blacklisted very quickly.
No, capris will look horrid on you. Don't wear them. And I know what I am talking about. Very few people on this forum have worked in the fashion industry in New York. I have. Slimane Slag |
Hey! You thanked me earlier and now you turn on me.....

I'm so glad I'm not the only one doesn't particularly like the Capri look on most women, Polly_Magoo! Makes most of us look even more short-legged than we already are, and down right "dumpy".
That being said, a couple of years ago, that's all I saw down in southern France and I suspect they'll still fit in--especially if the weather is hot. If you look good in 'em and are comfortable, I see no problem! Besides, they know you're American by your mannerisms, not your clothes. |
Sorry to have offended!
I shall keep my lips zipped next time! -Katie |
OK then, here you have it:
<Are they as popular there, as they are here in California?> NO they are not. Parfym, Everyone was nice to you and kindly answered a silly question. If you're so smart about how Europeans dress, why are you asking a bunch of strangers what kind of pants to wear?BTW it won't help to get lots of good advice when you give a snooty lecture to people who answered your thread. |
