Capri & The Amalfi Coast in one week?
Hi! I have come up with this itinerary for this year's first week of July:
Day 1. Capri: Arrival early in the afternoon.
Day 2. Capri: Visit the town of Capri and its surroundings.
Day 3. Capri: Visit the town of Anacapri and its suuroundings.
Day 4. Amalfi: Arrival in the morning.
Day 5. Amalfi: Visit of Positano.
Day 6. Amalfi: Visit of Ravello.
Day 7. Departure for Rome.
Do you think this is a doable itinerary? Or am I expecting to visit too many places in little time? Are those 3 nights in Capri enough to visit the island calmly? Are those three nights in Amalfi enough to visit Amalfi, Positano and Ravello without rushing it up? Should I add an extra day in Capri or maybe in Amalfi? Thanks for your advise and tips!

I guess the adequacy of your itinerary depends on what you want to do or like to do. We spent two nights in Positano and two nights in Capri before going to our final 3 nights in Rome (this followed a week in Umbria). Two nights in each was plenty for us, but I'm sure we could have enjoyed more had we had sufficient time and money.
I'm glad you're planning on spending nights on Capri, since the island is totally different after the daytrippers leave - it is much calmer, more magical.
Have you already picked hotels on Capri and in Amalfi? If not, there are many Fodorites who will be glad to chime in with their suggestions if you give us some parameters (e.g., cost, proximity to particular points of interest, etc.).

I have narrowed it down to two hotels. "Stella Maris" on Capri and "Hotel Amalfi" in Amalfi. The Capri hotel costs 120 Euros per night (It's kind of expensive for me, but I can't seem to find any other hotel in Capri town) but I'm still looking. I wanted to stay at a B&B, but they want me to pay in cash, and I can only pay with credit card. The Amalfi Hotel is 90 Euros per night, which I still can't believe since it is very well located. I can't spend more than 120 Euros per night on a hotel (I'd say more than 110 but on Capri it seems impossible). If you have any suggestions concerning hotel choice. Thanks again!

Those prices are per a double room since I am travelling with a friend. My main goal in this towns is to walk them camly and visit their sites; not every single corner of them, but visit more than just the main square. I was hoping I could do that with this itinerary, but, since I have never been there, I don't know if those days are enough to do that.

Yes, it is doable. Some people here try to do much more ! (I can imagine some people also trying to fit in Naples, Pompei, Herculaneum & Paestum ) It wouldn't suit me personally as I like lots of days doing nothing; but if you just have a week & those are the places you want to visit, it will be fine. It's not as if there are a lot of sights to visit in Amalfi, Positano & Ravello - the views are the main thing.
