Capri, Positan, Tuscany and Rome Possible Itineary.
My husband and I are making our second trip to Italy this May. We did Northern Italy last time. Here is our possible itineary. Please let me know what you think?
Day 2-Arrive FCO 12:35- Transfer to Termini and then rail to Naples and Ferry to Capri. Day 3 & 4- Capri hotel Day 5- Ferry to Positano hotel Day 6,7,8- Positano, Pompeii, and Amalfi Coast. Day 9- Train to Chiusi, rent car and drive to Chianti B and B Day 9 and 10- Tour Chianti Day 11- Leave for southern Tuscany hotel- tour on the way Day 12 and 13- Tour southern Tuscany Day 14- return car, train to Rome- hotel Day 15 Rome Day 16-Leave We just want to get a quick taste of Rome this time to see if we'd want to come back. Do the Hydofoils and Cpri ferries run regardless of weather? Also will we be able to get away from the crowds on Capri by hiking and visitng remote areas of the island? Will Amalfi coast be crazy beginning of May? One main concern I have is if our flight is delayed getting in- will we still be able to make it to Capri that day? Not possible for us to fly into Naples. Also will we be able to get away from the crowds on Capri by hiking and visitng remote areas of the island? Anything else? Any imput is greatly appreciated. Thanks so much! |
Hi S,
Too bad you can't fly into Naples. Otherwise, looks good to me. >Do the Hydofoils and Cpri ferries run regardless of weather?< No Here's a link to ferries that might be useful to you: www.italyheaven.co.uk/campania/ferries.html Enjoy your visit. ((I)) |
I like it, but would prefer one location in Tuscany. May is a good time to go. Go to www.onelittleworld.com and find their trip report to Capri and the AC for good info.

Hi Snorkle,
Your plan looks good. I visited the Amalfi Coast and Capri Sept 05. I think May will be a little less crowded. The best things I did during my 2 nt stay on Capri was a 2 hour boat tour around the island. Second best was hiking up to Villa Jovis, no crowds at all! Buon viaggio! |
Thanks everyone. Great info. Ira above says the ferries and hydrofoils are subject to the rough seas. So how do we get to our hotel on Capri if the seas are too rough???

Hi S,
>the ferries and hydrofoils are subject to the rough seas. So how do we get to our hotel on Capri if the seas are too rough??? < One of the things you learn about being on the water is patience. If the seas are too rough for you to get to Capri, you stay in Naples, Sorrento or Positano until they calm down. ((I)) |
