I'm not familiar with either hotel, but on a scale of 1 to 100 regarding staying in Anacapri or Capri, I'd give staying in Anacapri for a first time a 10 and staying in Capri a 99 3/4.

The view from the Caesar Augustus is unparalleled. Stunning, breathtaking, unbelievable.
I personally have always liked staying in Anacapri better - less crowded and less chi-chi feeling. You can always go down to Capri via bus or taxi or hotel shuttle (which the CA has) to spend the day and/or evening - taxis and buses run pretty darn late. To be fair, I've never stayed at Villa Brunello, so I can't vouch for it, but Anacapri and the CA would be my choice. |
I vote for Capri, the Villa Brunello is lovely, though I have not stayed there so I can't vouch for the rooms.I love Capri at night... the smell of lemons...I am jelous one of my favorite places.Ceaser Augustus does have great views. You really can't go wrong at either place.I usually stay at he hotel la Mamela, and like it very much there is a beautiful pool, and the rooms are large and comfortabe. My only complaint is the too firm matresses, although my hubby said I was being fussy.

We had a fairly good lunch at the C.A. near the pool with a lovely view but we stayed in town. IMO, the bus ride up and back was quite hair raising, but the scenery was great, if you dared to look.
