In my opinion, a week in Capri is way too long...with all the other towns on the Amalfi Coast you should get to some of them. A good base, in my opinion, would be Amalfi...right in the middle..close to positano, ravello, and depending on what time of year you go, you can get hydrofoils to Capri. We went there for the day but it was also off season so many hotels and restaurants were still closed... Positano has a lovely beach....

Good evening, Markos Probably the best
way of going from Firenze to Capri would
be by taking rail to Naples and change
to the ferry taking you to Capri.
www.fs-on-line.it will get you the
rail information, but will have to surf
for ferry information. might suggest
www.capri.it/ pr www.caprionline.it/
I do not recall any beaches for swimming
on the Marina side, however I can be
wrong but was standing at Piccola Marina
on the other side of the island, on a
rock in the water looking ar the Faragloni but can't remember any sand...
Sorry, Richard of La Grange Park, Il..
PS Hotel Syrene, has a darn good pool.
rjv

Marina Picola has a small beach and there is another somewhere the Marina Grande (don't remember exactly where). Both are stone beaches as I recall. I was to do this, I'd put two or three nights into Capri and the rest on the mainland. A lot of choices: Amalfi, Positano, Sorrento, Ravello, Naples itself, all worthwhile.

Maiori has the best beach in Amalfi! Check it out. I do agree that you might get a little bored staying in Capri for a week. But three days, would be plenty of time to explore the island.....and do some damage with the old credit card!

Carey
