Capri Day Trip
We will be making a one day visit to Capri in mid-May (from Positano via Hydrofoil ex Sorrento) and would love advice on "must see" stops and a nice spot for lunch.
|
We enjoyed our excursion to the Blue Grotto. Nice boat ride; climbing into the little rowboat; lieing down to make it through the opening. It really is blue. It was nothing astounding, but fun and interesting. A lot of people don't get the chance to get into the grotto as the seas must be fairly calm and you need a sunny day for the blue effect.

I enjoyed the leisurely 45-minute stroll to the Roman ruins of Villa Jovis and its magificent views. Slight incline, requires comfortable walking shoes.
|
The Church of San Michelle has an exquisite tiled floor depicting the story of Adam & Eve fleeing from Eden. You can't walk on it, you have to walk on boards around the perimeter. Worth a visit. Also, when in either Positano or Sorrento, make sure you get a pair of sandals made to order. You will treasure them forever.

You can have a very enjoyable and reasonable lunch at Casa Nova, via le Botteghe, 46, Isle of Capri. Ask for Pietro and tell him Cindy Kane of Connecticut recommended his restaurant. I assure you, he will treat you like royalty!

We bought an all-day bus pass and wandered around. Enjoyed the ski-lift type single chair lift out of Anacapri to the highest point on the island. There's a small cafe and terrace at the top. Wonderful 360-degree views.
