Capri - Cocktails ??

Getting ready for my trip of a lifetime - Capri ! So - I don't want to miss out on anything ! With that thought in mind - I don't want to go all the way there and drink my ole stand-by 7 & 7 or a beer - so what is THE DRINK to have in Capri - please don't say Limoncello !

Hey, Jerseysue, my pop is from Napoli. You should be drinking Campari, Campari w/soda, or Negroni on Capri.

When my dad was a kid, he would shine shoes for the people getting on the boat going to Capri from Napoli.

Campari and soda is the typical aperitif. I love it - but be aware that it is an aquired taste (not at all sweet).

I don't have a firm answer for you, but the title of your post reminded me of a funny experience my husband and I had trying to order a vodka martini on our honeymoon. The bartender did not understand how you could have a martini without Martini & Rossi vermouth. He was adamant that the cocktail we ordered with vodka and cointreau could NOT be a martini! I guess he is technically correct, but it always makes me laugh when I remember the incident.

Thanks Handmaiden & NYTraveler - I'll give Campari a try - I remember sneaking it from my parents liquor cabinet when I was a kid and it was worse than medicine - but how our taste changes when we get older !!

I had in mind some type of drink with lemon in it - I guess because Capri is famous for the lemons ! But not just straight Limoncello !!
