Capri - any recommended value hotels?

Hi, can anyone recommend a reasonably priced hotel in Capri (less than €150 per room)? Ideally I'd like someplace central with a pool. Thanks

My husband and I stayed at a B&B, Tirrenia Roberts, email address [email protected]. There is a very nice pool which we were almost the only ones using during our stay. You can look at it on the web
at www.capri.net. It looks like the current rates are 90-110E. We stayed in the room that is shown on the website. It was nice enough, but we didn't like that the bathroom, tho private, was across the hall. It is about a 10 minute walk into town. If you do stay here, be sure to use the luggage service at the port rather than carrying your bags yourself. We carried ours to the hotel and it was the worst experience of our trip, as there were a lot of stairs and farther than we realized. When we checked out, we had the luggage service pick it up - the best 30E we spent! There are other hotels listed at capri.net, so maybe you'll find something that will work. Have fun.

I am intriqued by your change from "value hotels" to "reasonably priced" hotels (which could mean the same thing -- good value or reasonable for the price) to a flat "less than 150 per room". It seems to me that often the places that are inexpensive (and I believe that in Capri 150 would fall into that category) are not as good value or are not as reasonably priced as many other hotels. If the rooms are tiny and not attractive, and they nickle and dime you for all the extras that normally might be included, is it still considered good value if you're only saving maybe 50 or so euro per day? To me, getting a really great room with a super view and other amenties might be a much better "value" or be much more "reasonably priced" even if it is 100 euro more per day.

Just a rhetorical question here from me, I guess. I see nothing wrong with asking for a room for 150 euro or less per day -- I just think that when you add that it be a value and reasonably priced, it makes the goal much, much more difficult.

During our visit to Capri we stayed in Hotel Weber Ambassador****. The hotel doesn't have the pool, but it is just several steps from the beach (though, the beach isn't big, as all beaches in Capri). The prices differ depending on the season and type of the room (we had deluxe room for 150EUR + breakfast 7EUR per person in July 2005). But the staff if extreamly helpful and kind, the owner/manager of the hotel was always around, asking if everything is OK for us. The hotel has free shuttle service to the center of Capri, which was very convenient. The web site is www.hotelweber.com. We were really happy about our choice and the price for Capri is quite OK, as well.

I haven't stayed there, but based on location and price, I think Hotel Weber seems like a good choice. You could also look at VILLA KRUP and VILLA SARAH, although the latter might have gone out of business in the last year or two.
