Thanks to Paragkash for posting this, and to everyone else for the responses. This will be very helpful to us, as well. Paragkash, we'll be spending a few days in Cappadocia shortly before you (beginning of April), but we are obviously behind you in planning for it.

Paragkash, the dervishes ceremony we went to lasted about 50 minutes. It cost 50TL per person and I think it started at 9:00 p.m. We were happy we made the decision to see it. The room it was in was relatively small and intimate, and we almost felt like we were part of it. It was a "let's do it if we get a chance" item on our list and we were very happy that we saw it.

I also like the combination of walking and driving. You'll get a different perspective on foot.

Thanks Ellen. Did anyone attended the Turkish night at Cappadocia. My hotel owner has sent me an info. on it, as mentioned above. It includes other folk dances along with belly dance.
We are planning to see the dervishes ceremony on one night for sure, after your confirmation.
We may not get time for the other night, as we will reach late on the first night, and leave at 7/8 on the 3rd night by bus to Denzli.
Am still looking for the ideal photo spots at sunrise and sunset.

Me and my family was in Cappadocia a week ago. We stayed 3 days in Goreme in Traveller's Cave Hotel, would recommend it. it at the highest point of Goreme and the view is spectacular. Rooms are clean and beautifu. We also took an overnight bus to Pamukkale. There is many bus company at the centre of Goreme, you can book with any one of them. We went with Neveshir bus company. the bus leave at 7.30pm, arrived at Denzili at 5.30am, then there is a mini van tat took us to Pamukkale.

Can you tell me some more details
1. Was the overnight bus journey comfortable? How much did it cist you per person? Is there a bus leaving a bit later, say 8.30/9 pm?

2. How much did you pay at the cave hotel per night?

3. Did you stay at Pamukkale? Did they offer a pick-up from Denzli? How much did the hotel cost you?

We are planning to spend a few hours at pamukkale and then proceed to Selcuk for night stay.

We're spending five nights in Istanbul, three in Goreme, and then the last few nights back in Istanbul.

We decided to split our stay in Istanbul; the first part will be in Sultanahmet (Empress Zoe) and the second part in Beyoglu/Cihangir (Villa Zurich). In Goreme, we have reservations at the Kismet Cave House.

I've already made the air reservations. We found fares into/out of Neveshir with which I was comfortable.

I wish we had more time to add a third destination, but we have fixed dates for spring break (traveling with our 17 y/o daughter, who can't miss any school).

On our trips of late, we've been trying to post some information and photos as we go along--time and Internet access permitting. That will certainly be our intention here.

The bus journey to Pamukkale was ok. It was those big, nice modern coaches. Cost 45TL per person. Apparently, i knew the only time it left Cappadocia was 7.30pm.

We booked two rooms in the Traveller Cave Hotel. Cost was 65 Euro per room. This is low season rate. you can check the hotel website for all the cost. http://www.travellerscave.com/hotel/index-hotel.htm

We did not stop overnight at Pammukkale, the owner of this mini van that came to pick us up also own a tour agency and hotel, he offer us a one day tour in pamukkale which cost 40TL per person including guide, entrance fee (20TL), lunch which i find it reasonable, so i join them for the one day tour, and also bought the tickets with them to Seljuk (24TL per person) on the very night, he send us to Denzili Bus Station for us to get board the bus which includes in the fare.

We stayed in Hotel Bella which is nice too.

I do not have the email ID but the Boss of the tour agency is also the boss of Koray Hotel in Pammukkale. Maybe you can do a check and see if you could get the hotel website and contact them.

After Tom answered the question I do not have much to say on top but a friendly advice, Cappadocia if possible should not be less than 3 full days and if less you better have a guided tour to make your time more enjoyable and use the time efficiently and not to miss places + local stories as well as its history.
