It's been too long since I was last in Iceland, so my restaurant recs wouldn't be valuable, but I will say that you need to get a hot dog or two at the stand down at the harbour.
The historic Laekjarbrekka on the main drag was a nice experience and doesn't seem to have changed much, if you want Icelandic food.
And for a bit of further reading, here's an old, old list that keeps growing: http://www.fodors.com/community/euro...in-iceland.cfm

Have a great trip... some of our favorites:
The hot dog stand - a great cheap lunch.
Saegreifinn - down on the docks. Great little local place. Picnic tables inside, excellent lobster soup, and fresh fish skewers that select and grill on the stop. Try the whale. Inexpensive.
Icelandic Fish and Chips - not too far from the docks. Gourmet fish and chips as reasonable prices (for Iceland). A variety of fish, well prepared, with a variety of dipping sauces.

Thanks for that Astein12, they sound good, I had seen the fish and chips on the Internet and made a mental note to make my way there. We going bed and breakfast so finding good food for dinner is a must.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.
