I'm going to be in the Cappadocia area around Oct9th, and I'm wondering about renting a car after we arrive at the Kayseri airport. Does anyone have any thoughts on the logistics getting from the airport to a car rental place, or any suggestions on a car rental place?

Also: How good are the shuttle buses from the Kayseri airport to Gorem/Urgup? I've read that they're $7, but the Argeus website lists them as $70 -- what gives? :)

We rented from AutoEurope and the agency was Sixt. We were met in the Keyseri airport by a guy with our name on a sign who then took us to the Sixt office in the town of Keyseri. We drove to Urgup from there, which would have been easy following the directions I had printed off from Esbelli Evi beforehand. But the guy at Sixt told us that was the wrong way to go and gave us other directions. We followed his, but got hopelessly lost because a sign was down at an important intersection. We stood at another crossroads waiting for a car to stop at the stopsign. I flagged then down and asked "Urgup?" and the pointed us in the right direction.

First I have to write that $7 is the shuttle to KAYSERI not URGUP.

If you request a car from any rent a car agency you have to tell the place you want so IF you want your car at the Kayseri Airport I am sure that the representitive will help you how to go to ...... Place.

There are 2 or 3 way to go to URGUP so you have to get the short cut or via SOGANLI VALEY. If you want short cut drive to south of Kayseri then find the SIGN KIRSEHIR on the way to Kirsehir almost 39 KM you will reach KALABA and you will see the sign AVANOS or OZKONAK (One of the underground city in Cappadocia)visit this underground city then continue to drive to AVANOS then URGUP.

Hi dbigham;
Car hire is easy and one of the best ways to have freedom. Daily price ranges between 45 to 70 usd depens on the car and the company. 7 Usd for THY shuttle is correct and Argeus does it. 70 Usd. should be a private transfer only. So there is no mistake. To take the correct road ask the rent a car guy and get a map. Do not mingle your head with different directions. There is one standart road which is the best way to take you to hearth of Cappadocia. From Airport go out 1,5 km.s turn left on a big junction for about 8 kms. straight, from the big junction follow the road to Nevsehir.on your left. 10 more km.s turn right to Nevsehir Avanos. I did that road 20 times last month and its so easy.
