I am ready to attempt to find some FF tickets for next summer for the 4 of us. I have 106K with CO and 73K with AA. I am hoping for 3 tickets, possibly 4 with some maneuvering of miles. Regardless, I know that I need to try to book this soon.

We would like to fly into Paris for a week, then spend a week in Switzerland. On our last trip to Switzerland we stayed in Gruyeres and Zermatt. These small towns really appealed to us. I love the beautiful scenery and small town feel. They were colorful and charming.

I don't expect that we'll travel again up into the Alps, but would love to have some suggestions as to where to spend a week. I would like to base in 2 different cities for 7-8 days, with easy access at the end to fly out of Zurich or Geneva. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Out of Geneva, I absolutely love Lausanne, Vevey and Montreux... along Lac Leman in the french-speaking part of Switzerland. Within only about 1 hour from Geneva, right on the train route. Stunning views of the lakes and mountains.

And then there's Engadine. Lots to choose from in that area. Scuol or Sent make a great base, as do Pontresina or Zuoz.

I'm still trying to get to Pushlav (Poschiavo) and Soglio. They are on my list!

I am wondering about what you mean by "I don't expect that we'll travel again up into the Alps". Hm, so will you prefer to stay somewhere in a city or smaller town at the foot of the Alps/mountains?

The Engadine is in the far East of Switzerland, at the border to Austria and Italy. Very beautiful area and different culture/language/architecture compared to Zermatt or Gruyeres.

If you consider the Engadine then it would make sense to hit it first, then stay the other 3/4 nights at Lake Lucerne, from where you can catch a flight out of Zurich. So you'd have explored two new regions of Switzerland.

As schuler said (HI!) Scuol would be a great base. Or Sent for 3/4 nights, agreed, schuler ;-) Or Zuoz, Pontresina, Sils ... too many to choose from.

We were only in Switzerland for a few days last July - but we loved Montruex -it was everything we wanted and it was a good base for us - walking around the lake will always be a special memory for the 4 of us.

I have to add I was overwhelmed with how kind and friendly and helpful everyone in Switzerland was.

The Engadine looks ideal for us. I just saw some incredible hiking photos. How long of a trip is it from Zurich to Scuol?

Yes, the Engadine! We stayed at Pontresina and found it easy to get to lots of places, you can even take the Bernina Express down to Poschiavo. There is great hiking in the whole area and it is all so beautiful Zuoz, Guarda etc are all magic places.
