can't find a hotel in Paris - picked a really bad time
I had no idea it would be so hard to find a hotel in Paris for next month. I want a hotel for 4 nights starting 16th for 2 people and all the fodor favorites are taken :O.
I have been reading through every hotel thread since yesterday to looking for a hotel and each one of those is already full! It seems that big exhibitions and world cup has made it almost impossible to find a place. I looked on venre too and couldn't find anything there that was mentioned here or has somewhat OK rating on tripadvisor. I am looking for something less than USD 200/night. Can anyone help. TIA. |
Hi T,
You've checked the Bonaparte? |
Hotel Monge?
Dacia Luxembourg? |
Yes ira. Already did, after reading all your recommendations. No luck :(.
|
suze, thanks for your reply. I emailed Hotel Monge yesterday and haven't heard from them yet. No luck at Dacia Luxembourg.

Accorhotels.com has some hotels. The difficult part is that the rate advertised in the search is not necessarily the rate when you click through. And it's hard to accept you'll have to pay so much more than you will other times of year.
But, for example, there's a cancellable rate for Ibis Paris Montmartre for 97 Euros per night. I suggest you book something, anything, that is cancellable and then try to do better. I'd also try bidding on Priceline (with a careful look at Betterbidding.com and BiddingforTravel.com ). The odds are against you, but sometimes hotels seem to "forget" to raise their prices when they should. |
Also, try these:
http://www.hrs.de (has many options including some 3* hotels that are well under your budget) http://www.holiday-inn.com http://www.bestwestern.com |
Thank you Will. I might have to give priceline a shot.
|
|
I just left laterooms.com. They have hotels that show available. Some 3* for your price-range as well.
Do you care what arrondisement? |
Suzie, thanks for laterooms. At this point I don't care. This is our first trip to europe so I wanted to stick to something that was recommended or near a train station, but it might be too late for that.
|
I can't think of any compelling reason to be near a Paris train station.
|
Will, yesterday I was looking at a hotel that was in the 12th arrondissement and a lot of reviews on tripadvisor said how being close to the train station made it really easy to get to all the attractions. This is where I got the idea of being close to the train station being good for a first time visitor to Paris.
|
You don't need to be near a train station to see the sights of Paris. Just look for a Metro stop. They are everywhere so that shouldn't be a problem.

TripQs:
For your first trip to Paris, I'd choose the 3-7 arrondissment - our favorites are the 4,5,6. I definitely wouldn't choose near the train station. I like the website: http://www.france-hotel-guide.com You pick your arron., what you want to spend, and will get a list of hotels. Then, for many of the hotels, you can put in your dates and do an availability check. Also, in a pinch, I find Expedia to be very helpful. Good luck to you - there's something out there! Carol |
lucielou, I am reading reviews about Hotel de France Invalides and it is rated at #135. I can book it for $110 on parishotels.com
I might jump on this if my priceline bid gets rejected. |
One other possibility is to just call the place you really want and talk with the staff directly. I did that with the Claude Bernard and had good luck getting the room we wanted, price we wanted, and made a friend in the process.
|
Personally I would choose Hotel de France Invalides for that price over a Priceline bid in most cases.
