Cannot see Anadolu Ateşi in Antalya. Options in Istanbul?
 

I wanted to see the Anadolu Ateşi at Aspendos when visiting Antalya, but the performance date does not match my itinerary. Obviously, there is nothing comparable, but what are the options in Istanbul?

You will have to google Anadolu Atesi and/or check at Biletix.com which is like ticketmaster in Turkey.

The biletix site does not show spring schedules yet.
I found Hocapaşa Dans Tiyatrosu. Is this the only show of this kind in Istanbul?

If it helps, I visited two consecutive performance at the Hodjapasha Cultural Center -- the sema and then folk dances. They were definitely touristy, but I also found them very enjoyable and I liked the setting. Good luck!

Hocapasa may be your easiest alternative for folk dances.
They have a small stage and cramped seating but make good use of it. These are for tourists but Turks do not usually go to these shows in istanbul.

Unless you are an avid sufi/roumi follower miss out the whirling dervish ceremony and opt for the Rhythm of the Dance.
The White Rose may be rather cheesey, but cannot say.

Folk dancing is a standard affair at festivals in Anatolian regions, especially at high pastures. Spring is a good time for them. You will have to be driving and need time though. Croesus here and DavidM on TA may give you some ideas because they have been biking in Turkey for a long time.

You will again need to google for these festivals.

I have watched them twice and they are as good as many Las Vegas shows.

I do not know your schedule, but Usak is an out of the way hidden gem of a city and I recommend it, especially in conjunction with Anadolu Atesi, if you are willing to drive there because all the antique and natural (very long canyon, etc.)sites in the region are reachable only by car.

Scopia or Tbilisi may be out of the question, but who knows maybe a reader of this thread will find that those performances meet their travel plans.
