Cannes, Antibes, Nice
I am going to the Nice area in mid-May. I want to visit Nice, Cannes and Antibes within a couple of days. Where would be the best (most centralized) place to stay? Is transportation relatively easy between the three cities (train, bus, etc.). We're not renting a car. Thanks!
|
Have you checked into the dates of the Cannes film festival - I believe it's sometime in May - and you certainly don;t want to be staying in the area then - prices will be sky high - even if you could find somewhere.
|
We WILL be there during the festival. I've checked around and prices aren't too bad. I just need to know best location right now.... Thanks!
|
The Cote d'Azur metro - a commuter train line rolls about twice hourly between all three and they are only a few miles apart. Antibes, in between both, seems to be a more older looking town than the others. Look into train passes, but they are dirt cheap.
|
I'd suggest basing in Nice, which has excellent train service to both Cannes and Antibes. Cannes is about a 30 minute ride; Antibes, I think, is less.
In my humble opinion, Nice is a much more vibrant city than Cannes, although during the Cannes Film Festival that may not be true! Do you need hotel recommendations? |
Yes, hotel recommendations are welcome! Of course, I would like inexpensive, but close to the water/main area of town. Thanks!

If you decide to stay in Cannes, get your hotel reservations ASAP--many are alrady full up.

I stayed in Cannes most of the time and visited Nice and enjoyed it that way. I spent a day on the beach and the beach in Cannes is sandy (in Nice it is rocky).
We did stay in Nice the last night of our trip. We liked the Hotel Windsor. Funky, good location and great price. |
