Canel Boating
Has anyone ever rented a canel boat in Europe? I just receivced a brochure from Crown Blue Line. Sounds interesting. Not sure what country to visit yet. Trying to get some info on the condition of the boats, places you liked, why you like this type of vacation and why you wouldn't do it again.

Try searching ths board under 'canals in france'.

We did a trip in England. One week. We later learned that this is a common adventure all over Europe. We also noted that rental boats were available. Young people were very evident. Most surprizing on the English system; boats locked themselves through. The Fox River system in the USA didn't allow this. Only government personnel could do this. Complaints were that they were not often present! Later locking was shut down because of such costs. You will have a wonderful time! You will see sights that few tourists ever do.

14 Americans books two Classiques through Crowne Blue and we traveled in Burgundy, the Canal du Central. Wonderful way to meander through countryside. I'll do it again someday.

You can also type "Rives de France" in the search box and get some older posts. I recommend one way trips and upstream, the latter recommendatin because I had the impression that the locks are kept open--perhaps to minimize growth on their walls.
