Cancer Warning
An interesting article titled "Electric Light-Breast Cancer Link Studied" can be found at
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmp...t_cancer_light The "scientists" involved claim that "Their theory is that prolonged periods of exposure to artificial light disrupt the body's circadian rhythms ....". Apparently gas, lamps, oil lamps, candles and torches do not have this affect. I suggest that all women planning on travel to Europe avoid those countries that have electric light. This leaves Molvania as the number 1 tourist destination. ((I)) |
Wonderful! I will mention this to my hypochondriac mother-in-law, perhaps she won't want to acocmpany us on ALL of our trips to Europe now... ;-)
|
I have to mention that I think this (Fodor's) thread trivializes the breast cancer issue, with 1 in 9 or 10 women being affected with it over the lifetime.
|
Wasn't trying to trivialize the issue grandmere, my grandmother died of breast cancer, my mother has fought it twice, and I am almost genetically assured of getting it myself some day.
I don't think ira meant to trivialize the issue either. I found it humourous because it seems every day scientists are finding another "cause" of cancer, or are finding that some food prevents it, then finding the same food can cause it... |
The way I read it, Ira and Texas Aggie were only poking fun at all the supposed "causes" of cancer, not it's vicitms. I don't think any harm was intended.
|
My dear wife is a breast cancer survivor, but that is no reason not to have a few laughs over science in our times.
